THE TWELVE TRADITIONS OF

 DUAL DIAGNOSIS

ANONYMOUS

  1. Our commom welfare should come first personal recovery is dependent upon D.D.A. unity.
  2. For our group purpose there is but one ultimate authority- a loving God as He may express Himself in our group conscience. Our leaders are but trusted servants, they do not govern.
  3. The only requirement for D.D.A. membership is a desire to stop using and drinking and to develop healthy drug and alcohol free lifestyles.
  4. Each group should remain autonomous, except in matters effecting other groups or D.D.A. as a whole.
  5. Each group has but one primary purpose, to carry the message of recovery to the dually diagnosed who still suffer.
  6. A D.D.A. group ought never to endorse, finance, or lend the D.D.A. any outside enterprise so that problems of money, poverty and prestige do not divert us from our primary purpose.
  7. Each D.D.A. group should remain self supporting, declining outside comtributions.
  8. D.D.A. should remain forever nonprofessional, but our service centers may employ special workers.
  9. The D.D.A. group ought never be organized; but we may create service boards or committes directly responsible to those they serve.
  10. Dual Diagnosis Anonymous has no opinion on outside or unrelated issues, hence the D.D.A. name ought never to be drawn into public controversy.
  11. Our public relations policy is based upon attraction rather than promotion. We need always maintain personal anonymity at the level of press, radio, films, and television.
  12. Anonymity is the spiritual foundation of all our traditions, ever reminding us to place principles before personalities.
